Building New Skills in the Fine Arts Classroom
The Stone Mountain School academic curriculum includes a comprehensive fine arts program with professional-grade equipment and supplies. Students may participate in the following units:
- Ceramics (including a pottery wheel and kiln)
- Print-making
- Painting/Drawing
Art projects range from designing a mug to building a coffee table for the school’s reception room. One group of students worked together to paint a mural in the lodge, which is a visual representation of the stages students complete at Stone Mountain School. We hope you’ll come see it.
Our art instructor, who is both a professional artist and a nationally certified K-12 art teacher, ties art projects to the lessons students are learning throughout the program. Through an exploration of fine arts students at our boarding school for boys learn the following skills:
- Self-expression
- Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
- Ability to develop project plans and follow through to achieve the desired result
- Hands-on learning
